ANTIRACIST TEACH-IN: A COLLAB
WITH GREENE STREET FRIENDS SCHOOL

Calling all educators, parents, and caregivers!

 
Join us for a morning of learning focused on antiracist instruction led by Dr. Sonja Cherry-Paul (author of Stamped (for Kids)), Tricia Ebarvia (author of Get Free: Antibias Literacy Instruction for Stronger Readers, Writers, and Thinkers ), and Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow (author of Your Name is a Song). 

 

The morning will consist of a workshop led by Sonja and Tricia for teachers and parents/caregivers on strategies to enhance reading and learning with kids, whether in the classroom or at home. This will be followed by a reading and conversation with children’s and middle grade author Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow. Uncle Bobbie’s will be onsite with a “pop-up” bookshop with books featured throughout the morning and many others. 

 

Leave with practical strategies to recharge your reading and writing instruction with tools for antiracist teaching and learning!

The Author Events program at the Free Library of Philadelphia offers the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue with today’s most celebrated voices in the humanities and sciences. Called “the region’s preeminent forum for writers and ideas” by the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Free Library’s Author Events program has earned three “Best of Philly” designations from Philadelphia magazine (in 1997, 2001, and 2009). Since its inception, the Author Events program has grown and now presents more than 125 authors each year in addition to the Field Family Teen Author Series.
